Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 122sv 12" Fish Finder with Transducer

The Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 122sv is one of the best 12-inch premium fish finders for serious offshore anglers, charter captains, and pros running full multi-display tournament rigs in the $2,000-$3,500 premium tier. It's a 12" touchscreen fishfinder and chartplotter in Garmin's Ultra 2 premium tier, a step above the mainstream UHD2 line with a brighter IPS display, more powerful processor, full Garmin Marine Network (Ethernet) support, and edge-to-edge touch glass. This is the tier tournament pros and offshore captains step up to when sonar detail, multi-display networking, and display brightness matter more than budget. The included GT56UHD-TM transom-mount transducer is Garmin's Ultra High-Definition flagship transducer, CHIRP + ClearV + SideV with deeper range and sharper imaging than the GT54UHD found on UHD2 mainstream tier units.

This model ships with Worldwide Basemap (no regional Navionics+ charts pre-loaded), making it ideal for anglers who travel internationally, run multi-region boats, or prefer to add their own region-specific premium cartography. It's fully LiveScope Plus, LiveScope XR, and LiveScope Original compatible via the GLS 10 black box, and supports Panoptix PS22/PS31 live sonar directly. Unlike the UHD2 mainstream tier, the Ultra 2 gets full Garmin Marine Network (Ethernet) support, not limited, which matters on multi-unit boats where sharing sonar, radar, cameras, and autopilot across displays is critical.

Key Features

• 12" Ultra-Bright IPS Display, solar-readable at full sunlight, significantly brighter than UHD2 tier
• GT56UHD-TM Transducer Included, Ultra High-Definition CHIRP + ClearV + SideV, deeper range than GT54UHD

Who This Fish Finder Is For

The ECHOMAP Ultra 2 122sv is best for offshore charter captains, tournament pros, serious multi-species anglers, and owners of center console and sportfishing boats running premium electronics who need Garmin's premium tier performance, brighter display, faster processor, full networking, for tournament, offshore, or professional fishing applications. It's a common console choice on 22-32 ft center consoles, offshore rigs, and large bass boats with premium electronics packages. At 12 inches, the display dominates the helm with room for 4-6 split screens simultaneously. This is full-tournament-rig territory, the size tournament anglers, charter captains, and offshore fishermen step up to when sonar detail matters more than console real estate. Compared to the mainstream UHD2 tier (93sv, 94sv, 95sv), the Ultra 2 122sv trades ~$1,200 for premium display, processor, and networking capability, a meaningful step up if you run a multi-unit rig, fish offshore, or compete in tournaments where live sonar detail at speed matters.

Choose This If...

• You need the brighter premium IPS display, the Ultra 2 is noticeably brighter than UHD2 at full sunlight. If you fish in direct sun on open water, this matters.
• You run a multi-display networked boat, Ultra 2 gets full Garmin Marine Network (Ethernet); UHD2 gets limited network support only. Networked radar, cameras, and autopilot need this.
• You need 10-inch or larger screens, UHD2 tops out at 9" (95sv). For 10"+ displays, you're in Ultra 2 or GPSMAP territory.
• You want LiveScope Plus at its best, Ultra 2's faster processor and brighter display genuinely show more detail on LiveScope than UHD2 at the same refresh rate.
• Your budget supports the premium tier, $3299 for this unit vs ~$1,300 for a UHD2 equivalent at 9". The upgrade is real but so is the cost.
• Anglers who travel internationally, run multi-region boats, or prefer to add their own region-specific premium cartography, this variant ships with Worldwide Basemap (no regional Navionics+ charts pre-loaded). For pre-loaded U.S. Inland + Coastal maps, pick the 126sv variant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Ultra 2 and UHD2?

Ultra 2 is Garmin's premium ECHOMAP tier; UHD2 is mainstream. Key differences: (1) brighter IPS display, noticeably more readable in direct sun; (2) larger screen sizes available (Ultra 2 goes 10"/12"/16"; UHD2 tops out at 9"); (3) full Garmin Marine Network (Ethernet) support vs limited; (4) faster processor for smoother LiveScope and multi-split screens; (5) edge-to-edge glass construction. Most serious tournament anglers, offshore captains, and multi-display boat owners step up to Ultra 2. Recreational anglers on smaller boats are usually best served by UHD2.

Is the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 122sv LiveScope compatible?

Yes, fully. Supports LiveScope Plus, LiveScope XR, and LiveScope Original via the Garmin GLS 10 black box (sold separately, around $499). The Ultra 2's faster processor and brighter display show LiveScope detail better than UHD2 at the same refresh rate.

Does it support Panoptix live sonar?

Yes. Panoptix PS22 and PS31 live sonar connect directly to the Ultra 2 without requiring the GLS 10 black box. For Panoptix live sonar specifically, Ultra 2 is the preferred tier over UHD2.

Does the transducer come included?

Yes. This "Fishfinder" package includes the GT56UHD-TM transom-mount transducer with 20 ft of cable, Garmin's premium Ultra High-Definition transducer. If you already own a GT-series transducer or want to spec a thru-hull transducer, consider the "Chartplotter" variant (same head unit, no transducer included, saves approximately $400).

What maps are included?

This unit ships with Worldwide Basemap (no regional Navionics+ charts pre-loaded). Includes a basic worldwide basemap. Most premium tier buyers pair it with Navionics Vision+, CoastMaster Premium, or LakeMaster VX chips for the specific waters they fish. For pre-loaded U.S. Inland + Coastal maps, pick the 126sv variant. All units accept LakeMaster VX, CoastMaster Premium, and C-MAP Genesis Edge via microSD for expanded coverage. Anglers in cold-weather regions can add LakeMaster VX for ice fishing mapping.

Will this fit on my boat?

The head unit is 13.5" W x 8.6" H x 2.5" D. At 13.5 inches wide, it needs a console with real dashboard real estate, typically 22-32 ft center consoles, offshore rigs, and large bass boats with premium electronics packages. Flush-mount installation is common at this tier. Requires 12V DC power wired to the accessory panel. Most anglers have a professional installer do Ultra 2 tier installations, especially when networking multiple displays, budget $200-$500 for a shop install if you're not DIY-experienced.

Is this used in tournaments?

Yes, the Ultra 2 is common at the top levels of tournament fishing. Used by B.A.S.S. Elite, MLF Pro Tour, FLW pros, and offshore tournament anglers. LiveScope functionality is subject to each tournament's specific live sonar rules, check your circuit's current regulations before tournament day.
