Gradually move forward to slacken the rode, switch the line from the bow to a strong stern cleat secured with figure-eight wraps, and steer at a 35-45 angle to the initial heading. As the rode forms a J curve and the poly ball trails below, return toward the original heading until the ball surfaces behind the boat.
